FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why should I buy a book from Gnomeville press?
Gnomeville Press publishes stories lovingly created by people for people. Writers and artists are struggling with AI generated content trivializing their creative endeavors. We here at Gnomeville Press believe in the value of the human experience in literature and art. Sharing a story with a loved one is a truly personal act; it should be routed in lived experiences not algorithmic patterns. We hope to inspire a new generation to love reading. Author Tiffany Duval has built her professional life around her love of books and is constantly creating charming and relatable characters to tell her stories. Artist Matthew Matott has used whimsical art and his active imagination to share his unique point of view since childhood. We want to share our love of children’s literature with you. We created the Gnomeville Series so that you might share a special moment of joy, understanding, and love with the children in your life.
Can I find your books in bookstores and libraries?
Absolutely. Our books are all registered with the Library of Congress and have ISBNs. Our titles are offered in the Ingram Catalog, the major source of books for retailers and libraries. We are currently working to establish relationships with independent book retailers and public libraries. We also offer book sales directly to customers through our website.
Do you offer e-books?
At this moment we have chosen to focus on printed books. The way people consume media has changed drastically over the last decade. The stories in children’s books are important; they were not created to be gobbled up and then quickly replaced and forgotten. There’s something magical about well-loved books with tattered covers and folded pages; most of us have a few copies of our favorites from our own childhood. They encourage us to disconnect and whisk us away from the monotony, stress, and distractions of our daily lives. While we stand to increase distribution and sales of our book through digital means, we chose to focus our efforts on producing traditionally printed books.
Why do your books have a higher price than releases from well-known writers/illustrators in mass-market retailers?
Gnomeville Press is a micro-publisher. This means our very small team oversees all aspects of creating each story. As an independent publisher we lack the resources of massive traditional publishing houses. We are unable to pre-print and store large quantities of our books thereby missing out on volume discounts. We rely on a print-on-demand printing partner which allows us to create each copy as it is sold. This printing model offers more opportunities to diversify our offerings and add to our catalog but also slightly increases the cost of printing each book.
Do you do appearances or signings?
We love to meet readers! Both Tiffany Duval and Matthew Matott are available for personal appearances and readings. Tiffany adores sharing her story with children and Matthew always has a fun gnome art/craft activity to share. A small appearance fee may be required to cover cost of travel/supplies and will be determined on a case by case basis. Use the form in the contact us page to inquire about setting up an appearance.
What do I do if the book I ordered has a printing defect or arrived damaged?
Unfortunately we cannot personally inspect all copies of books that are sent out from the printer. In the rare event that you have received a book that has printing defects or shipping damage please let us know immediately and we will make it right! We will need photos of the defect/damage and an picture of the batch information from the back page in order to process the replacement request. Use the form on the contact us page to let us know if you’ve experienced and issue with your copy.
